Risk of Terrorists Working in Disguise of Daily Labourers at Construction Sites

According to West Bengal Police's input, suspected members of the "global terror group" Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), who were detained on suspicion of operating a sleeper cell in India, targeted the Siliguri corridor, which links north Bengal with the seven north-eastern States, on Friday, December 20, 2024. Thus, entry of terrorists in various states and taking shelter as daily labourers could pose a high risk to the entire state and nation as well.

UNCCT helps Member States in putting the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy into practice and encourages international collaboration in the fight against terrorism. Thus, it is very important to verify background of every individual to prevent terrorists entering states with fake ID proofs.

What Needs to Be Done

Therefore, it is recommended that construction industry site supervisors and management of the construction companies must not overlook and suppress any incident and should keep reporting all illegal activities by daily labourers to the police and must get background verification done through genuine process before than engaging construction workers in hurry so that people in the society can live in a safe environment.
